It's all about color

One of my favorite duties here at Cherokee Village Resort on lake Whitney is landscaping it's waterfront acreage.  Wether it's spreading wildflower seeds, tending to antique roses or adding more poppy beds, nothing seems to relax me more than getting my hands in the dirt.  Each year more diversity is added in hopes of having colorful blooms to greet guests in spring, summer and fall.

The St. John's and passion flower were not native to the resort but added this past year.

I believe their blossums are some of the most graceful around.

The native coreopsis displays a true Texas country image as it rests harmlessly against a large thorned sapling.  This shot was taken along the inlet that meanders along the edge of the resort.

Flowers have personality and these sunflowers are curious about everything.  Lots of sunflowers on the resort and this year several areas of "Mexican Sunflowers" will be added.  The Mexican sunflowers are more orange in color and attract more butterflies....which is one of our goals here at Cherokee Village Resort.
